It was a quiet Wednesday evening when the NCPD received a holocall about a suspicious death in an apartment complex in Westbrook. The NCPD and NetWatch quickly launched an investigation and soon discovered that the victim was a well-known netrunner who went by the online handle "p4c1f13r_nc". He was known for selling stolen credchip information via online net-rooms and forums.
As they searched the victim's apartment, the police found evidence that he had been engaged in illegal activities, including a list of stolen credchips and a cache of encrypted Militech files. They also discovered that the victim had been in the middle of a transaction with a buyer at the time of his death.
NCPD and NetWatch traced the buyer's's net-identity and were able to apprehend them, but they were unable to recover the stolen credchip information or the stolen cyberdeck. It was clear that the perpetrator had been after the victim's valuable information and was willing to kill to get it.
